Our 2014 MTV Video Music Awards Predictions

Ahh the VMAs. One of the consistently weird award shows. It’s the award show that brought us Madonna and Britney locking lips and the horror that was Miley Cyrus twerking on Robin Thicke and it’s that time of year again. The VMA’s will air on MTV Sunday night at 9/8c and I’m beyond hopeful that things are going to get weird. With performances from Queen Bey, Charlie XCX and Iggy Azela I literally have no idea what to expect. Mostly I’m terrified of Nicki Minaj’s performance of Anaconda, because she could really outdo Miley in the raunchy department on that one.

Because I can’t say, “This is what to expect at the VMAs this year,” I’m just going to make a few guesses¬†based on the nominations and mostly, just the people I like, ¬†and tell you all to tune in because, it’s the freakin’ VMAs

Artist To Watch:

Nominations: 5SOS, Charlie XCX, Fifth Harmony, Sam Smith and Schoolboy Q.

Prediction: To be fair, I’ve only heard like two or three of these artists but I’m obsessed with “Boom! Clap!” by Charlie XCX. So I pick her.

Best Male Video:

Nominations: Ed Sheeran, Eminem ft. Rhianna, John Legend, Pharell Williams, Sam Smith

Prediction: Okay, so the Sam Smith song sounds just like “Won’t Back Down” by Tom Petty, so I hate him. I guess I’ll pick Ed Sheeran but it will probably be John Legend or Pharell.

Best Female Video:

Nominations: Beyonce, Arianna Grande, Lorde, Iggy Azalea, Katy Perry

Predictions: Obviously it’s Queen Bey. No questions.

Best Hip-Hop Video:

Nominations: Childish Gambino, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, Eminem, Kanye West

Predictions: There is a 14 year old inside of me who still loves Eminem, but I bet it goes to Childish Gambino.

Best Rock Video:

Nominations: Linkin Park, Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Imagine Dragons, Lorde

Predictions: To me, Lorde is not rock. She’s more like alternative pop or something. I’m giving my vote to The Black Keys.

Best Pop Video:

Nominations: Arianna Grande, Avicci, Jason Derulo, Pharell Williams, Iggy Azalea

Predictions: Gotta give this to Arianna Grande, she has a huge following even though I can never get that song “Problem” out of my head.

Best Video With a Social Message:

Nominations: Angel Haze, Avicci, Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, David Guetta, J. Cole

Predictions: I, once again, very much think that Beyonce will win every category she is nominated in because Beyonce.

Best Collaboration:

Nominations: Iggy Azalea/Arianna Grande for “Problem;” Queen Bey and J for “Drunk In Love;” Chris Brown ft. Lil Wayne with “Loyal;” Eminem/Rhianna for “Monster;” Katy Perry ft. Juicy J for “Dark Horse;” and Pitbull ft. Kesha with “Timber”

Predictions: Okay this is the hardest of all the categories I think. It’s a hard pick between the duo of Grande/Azalea or the Carters.

Video of The Year:

Nominations: Miley Cyrus “Wrecking Ball;” Bey/Jay for “Drunk In Love;” Iggy Azalea for “Fancy;” Pharell for “Happy;” and Sia for “Chandelier”

Predictions: This one has got to go to my girl Miley Cyrus. People were talking about that video for MONTHS.

Tune in on Sunday and see if I was right! Although, let’s be real, I was probably way off.
