American Horror Story: Freak Show Will Be The Most Twisted Season Yet

Let me preface by saying that clowns are the actual worst. I hate them with every fiber of my being. I can’t even walk past a clown mask without quivering in fear. It’s a problem.

That being said, I thought I couldn’t pass up the latest gossip from the fourth season of American Horror Story: Freak Show. Creator Ryan Murphy said this season will feature “the scariest clown of all time.” Someone please come hold me.

The clown, named Twisty, will be played by John Carroll Lynch who is a whopping 6’3″, so basically he’s a giant and a clown. Although some teasers have featured clown-like images, the creators thought Twisty was so scary they are waiting to reveal him in the first episode on Oct. 8.

Murphy said:

“We said in the writer’s room that if we were going to do clowns, we were going to create the most terrifying clown of all time. That was our goal when we were writing him, but I’m worried about people being too afraid of our clown. It’s heart-stopping what he does. I’m worried. I’m worried that people are going to have cardiac arrests… The clown’s intro in the first episode is … even I was terrified of it. It’s brutal. Two crew members told me they have had nightmares about this clown since we started shooting and they’re not even scared of clowns. I think he’s pretty extraordinary because, when you see why he’s a clown and why he’s wearing the mask … just you wait.”

I am so excited and nervous for this. If the show’s creators were terrified, I can only imagine what I’m going to feel. You’ll probably find me cowering in my room holding my bulldog for dear life.

That being said rumors of Neil Patrick Harris joining the cast this season are also all over the place. Other returning actors are Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates as the Bearded Lady, smokin’ hot Evan Peters and Sara Paulson are all returning for season four. You can catch it on Wednesday nights starting Oct. 8!
