The 7 Best Romantic Comedies to Stream on Netflix

As it is 2014, I can only assume that the vast majority of entertainment in your dorm room comes from Netflix. And I can only assume that there is still a lot of down time, and a lot of hungover-in-bed-all-day days.
Here is a list of the top 7 Romantic Comedies for any given mood streaming on Netflix—for when you get bored with whatever show you’re currently binge watching (it should be House).
1. Blue Valentine. For when you absolutely must cry your eyes out. Like a lot. This movie is no joke. It is one of those real life love is like this movies—and we all know that’s not something you need to experience every day. I highly recommend watching this only with people you are comfortable weeping around.
2. Shakespeare in Love. For when you are hating so hard on men, and you need to be reminded there are some good ones out there. This may be just for me, but I have to say—this film is super underrated. Every time I watch it I think it gets a little bit better. And Ben Affleck is in it, and he’s incredibly charming.
3. Jerry Maguire. For when you are feeling nostalgic. No matter how cliché this is, and no matter how well you know it—this movie will make you feel good. Not to mention the fact that it’s a great date night movie, because sports!
4. Ever After. For when you are actually in love, and hopeful, and happy, and just need a movie to validate that. Nothing makes you feel more hopeful than a real life Cinderella story. And this is, in my opinion, the best version of the Cinderella story out there. Drew Berrymore is at the very top of her game.
5. What to Expect When You’re Expecting. For when you want to laugh, and cringe, and judge a little bit. This is another extremely underrated movie, and it is one of my top go to flicks when I am experiencing boredom.
6. Clueless. For when you are with your girlfriends, and you just want to giggle and give each other manis. If you didn’t know Clueless was on Netflix then, you are welcome! Nothing better than watching this and noticing all the nuances you missed when you watched it back when you were 10.
7. Love Actually. For any mood you may be in ever. There is no better romantic comedy out there—I stand by this statement.
