The answer is Solange is not promoting this app, the fancy folks at Luxy just jacked her photo. They’re so wealthy and affluent they have to take photos from Harper’s Bazaar photo shoots to promote their weird app.
Luxy is a dating app like Tinder except that it’s only for very wealthy people. The app functions like Tinder but excludes low-income users from your pool of prospects. As a poor I have to side-eye it a bit but, really, if people only want to date others in their own socio-economic situation they have the right to do that.
According to Tech Times, “Darren Shuster, the spokesman for Luxy, said that they decided to keep the CEO’s identity hidden because of the expected criticisms that the app will generate.”
I am sure many of those criticisms will include that it perpetuates classism, is vapid, and unhealthy to measure people’s worth by their wallets. But you know what? I bet the wealthy people who are going to use this app were probably already dating this way anyway.
“Luxy decides the perfect match for its users by first asking the products that the users consume. Users first send in their five favorite luxury brands, and then the app matches the user to other users that have similar favorite luxury brands.”
It sounds super easy to lie on here. How can they verify that someone is affluent and doesn’t merely have affluent tastes? It all seems weird and shady. What do you think?
