Golden Globes 2015: Jeffrey Tambour Thanks the Transgender Community

Jeffrey Tambour is taking home a golden statue tonight for his depiction of a transgender woman in Transparent (winning Best Actor in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy) and during his speech he took a moment to recognize the real life┬átransgender community. After the prerequisite thanking of his professional friends and his family Tambour moved the focus of his acceptance speech to real life transgender men and women, saying, “And, finally, if I may, I would like to dedicate my performance and this award to the transgender community. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you … for your courage.┬áThank you for you inspiration. Thank you for your patience, and thank you for letting us be a part of the change. Thanks.”
The award was well deserved and hopefully the love shown for Transparent means we’ll be seeing a lot more well drawn, thoughtful depictions of transgender men and women in upcoming films and TV shows.
