When two celebs break up, they can’t just ignore each other’s calls and delete each other on Facebook. Just ask Taylor Swift and John Mayer – the musicians dated for a short time in 2010, but the media kept their relationship in the spotlight long after it ended. It didn’t help that T. Swift obviously penned the song “Dear John” about you-kn0w-who, and Mayer responded with “Paper Dolls” on his 2013 album Paradise Valley.
Both John and Taylor seemed like they’d rather forget about the whole thing, but now John’s opening talking about his ex. In an interview with Ronan Farrow for MSNBC’s 7 Days of Genius special, John didn’t shy away from speaking on Taylor Swift’s huge impact on the music industry. He even commented on how “Paper Dolls” was only seen as his rebuttal to T. Swift. While he only spoke about her professionally, John did say it’s “really cool” to have someone as big as Taylor take a stand against Spotify. “Artists need the person with the loudest voice to speak for them,” he said.
