Fashion Police needs a new squad following the departure of half their panel over the past few weeks. On the heels of Kelly Osbourne leaving following racist remarks made by Giuliana Rancic regarding Zendaya’s hair at the Oscars, Kathy Griffin resigned from the E! show. In a new interview with Howard Stern, she talks about regretting taking the job so soon after the death of the show’s original host, Joan Rivers.
“I probably shouldn’t have taken the gig,” Kathy said. “[Joan] just passed away six months ago.”
Kathy went on to explain that Joan’s daughter Melissa Rivers felt the show should go on with Kathy in her mother’s spot, and that’s why she felt comfortable doing so. She also commented on Joan’s career being more than just Fashion Police.
Kathy also squashed rumors about there being tension between herself and Kelly Osbourne. “I knew Kelly and we’ve been friends,” Kathy said on the Howard Stern show. “Any sort of quote shade thrown between us was all false and made-up.”
Despite losing half the panel and rumors of cancellation, Fashion Police is set to return March 30 at 9 p.m. on E!. Only Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski remain, but stay tuned to find out who will make up the panel when the show comes back.
