It came out before I was born, but I still love The Breakfast Club. My Saturday detention (which I only got because my phone rang during a Latin exam, I was a good kid) consisted of twelve kids playing on their phones for three hours. It was nothing like the epic day-long adventure had by a brain, an athlete, and a basketcase, a princess, and a criminal.
Unbelievably, it’s been 30 years since the film hit theaters in 1985. To celebrate the anniversary the film’s stars Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy appeared at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas where the movie was screen. The Barton Hills Choir even sang the movie’s theme song, the Simple Minds’ “Don’t You (Forget About Me).”

“It’s surreal. I don’t know how this happened!” said Molly Ringwald about the movie being three decades old. “I was really loving the work that I was doing. [Director] John [Hughes] and I had a symbiotic, respectful relationship. I didn’t know I’d be talking about it 30 years later! But it was a great experience.”
