'Pretty Little Liars' Producer Marlene King Spills On Season 5 Finale

*Fair Warning: This post is full of spoilers from the Pretty Little Liars season five finale!*
Are you still freaking out over the big reveal on last night’s season five finale of Pretty Little Liars? So much happened. A’s identity was revealed. Mona came back from the dead. And we are permanently seriously creeped out by dolls…
E! News talked with PLL executive producer Marlene King to get some answers on all the new questions the finale made us ask. Turns out, Charles has been planned as A for a while.
“I started dropped references in some of my earlier episodes, like if you go back to season three where the girls see the mime and the mime’s name is Charlemagne, which is the root name for Charles. So we’ve been dropping little nuggets along the way,” Marlene said. “And those anagrams that came out a couple episodes ago—it means a lot of different things, but one of the six or seven things it means is Charles DiLaurentis. I want to say that I had this idea in the back of my mind and I played with it for a couple of months before I pitched it to the room, sort of saying, ‘Is this going to work?’ And I didn’t get one negative reaction.”

While Marlene confesses that there were other ideas for who was A, she won’t reveal them…yet. “I will say. When the show ends, I will say,” she confirmed.
For extreme PLL fans, Marlene even revealed what some of the major clues for them to rewatch and see if they can get any insights. One clue was the song “Unwritten” being played at A’s prom while she also revealed the vault room holds secrets. “They call it the vault room, but I call it “A”‘ soul room,” she said. “When they’re in that room, there are a lot of clues in that room. I’m sure people will be screen-grabbing everything frame of that scene, and they should, by the way!”
E! also revealed that the show will include a major time-jump in its sixth season! While the new season will pick up with the girls still trapped in the dollhouse, fans can expect to see Aria, Spencer, Hanna, and Emily graduate from high school on-screen, then attend college off-screen before the season is over.
Why must we wait so long?!
