Why Will Ferrell & Kristen Wiig’s Lifetime Movie Isn’t Happening Anymore

Yesterday, we thought Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell were pulling a delayed April Fools’ Day prank when news leaked that they were to star in a Lifetime movie. The parody of Lifetime’s dramatic made-for-TV movies was called¬†A Deadly Adoption, and Will and Kristen were supposed to play a couple who took in a pregnant woman in hopes of adopting her baby.¬†However, it looks like the movie has now been canceled…simply because everyone found out about it?

“We are deeply disappointed that our planned top secret project was made public,” Will said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. “Kristen and I have decided it is in the best interest for everyone to forego the project entirely, and we thank Lifetime and all the people who were ready to help us make this film.”

But…wait. We had accepted this. At first it seemed ridiculous, but then we warmed up to the idea. Heck, we were even looking forward to it!

Oh well. I guess, we’ll settle for the third film in the Flowers in the Attic series, If There Be Thorns. (Yes, it premieres this weekend and yes, we will be watching.)
