In the summer, what’s a better pairing than a burger fresh off the grill and a cold brew? It’s the perfect end to a beach day or meal to get the night started. Budweiser knows that nothing is better, so the “King of Beers” is heading across the country to find its match – the “King of Burgers.” The Bud & Burgers competition will take the refreshing drink coast-to-coast as it searches for the perfect burger. They won’t be setting out alone – award-winning chef David Chang will help crown the victor.
The winner of the Bud & Burgers Championship will not only take home $100,000 to follow their grill master dreams, but he/she will also get the chance to show their skills in a new cooking competition series to be called “United States of Burgers” which will premiere on the Esquire Network this summer. The food competition show will feature amateur cooks competing in head-to-head battles in the search for the perfect burger to pair with America’s favorite lager.
“Both burgers and beer are experiencing a renaissance of sorts.” said Chef Chang. “I love that there’s nothing pretentious about the combination – it just works. A full-flavored lager brings out the taste of a savory burger.”
Today is National Beer Day, the official celebration of the repeal of beer prohibition, and the competition starts now. If you’re a beer fan (of legal age) and can cook a mean meat, submit a video or photo on Budweiser.com/Burgers to show off your burger and explain why they should be the 2015 Bud & Burgers Champion. Semi-finalists will compete at 10 nationwide Bud & Burgers Championships events hosted at some of the biggest festivals throughout the summer, including Stagecoach Music Festival, Free Press Summer Fest, Chicago Blues Festival and more. The champion will be crowned at the Budweiser Brewery in St. Louis on July 11.
