Taylor Swift’s mother Andrea was recently diagnosed with cancer, but she kept the spotlight on her daughter during the Academy of Country Music Awards on Saturday night. Andrea presented Taylor with a Milestone Award, and her speech about her little girl was the most heartfelt moment of the night. She spoke about Taylor’s lifelong passion for music and channeling her emotions through song. She even got a few laughs when she described Taylor’s inspiration for her hit “Love Story.”
“Every once in a while, [Taylor’s] dad, brother, or I find ourselves to be the subjects of those songs,” Andrea said. “Sometimes we’re merely the inspiration, like the time she was 17 years old, and her dad and I strongly disapprove of a certain young man…and rightfully so…but she was mad, she was real mad, and she went to her room and she closed the door and she came out about an hour later with a song called ‘Love Story.'”
