You might have thought Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande serenading each other in onesies was a little odd, but that was nothing compared to Miley’s latest installment of her Backyard Sessions. Cyrus wrote a song for her blowfish, who named Pablow (get it, get it?), but she can barely get through the tune before breaking down into tears…because she misses her pet fish. She sings about her regrets about keeping him captive, not being able to touch him, and going out for sushi where she witnesses her “friends eat my friends” (I laughed – am I a bad person?). It seems like even though Pablow passed away a few months ago, Miley still misses her puffy little friend.
Ignoring the lyrics, this solemn song played on the keyboard by Miley in her unicorn onesie sounds like she lost a family member. But nope, it was just a pet fish. The lyrics sound like a song written by The Lonely Island, but Miley’s totally serious and proves it by tearing up and slamming the keyboard in anger at the end of the song. She even needs a comforting hug.

Has Miley completely lost it? Fish don’t even live that long, so it’s kind of weird she got so attached. And for the record, no one should be crying while wearing a unicorn onesie. It’s like that famous movie quote delivered by Tom Hanks: “There’s no crying in onesies!” It’s like, the opposite of what you do in a onesie (if crying is the opposite of frolicking).
Anyway, Miley has been recording songs to promote her Happy Hippie Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to providing support services for young and LGBT homeless people. Let’s just hope they’re slightly more uplifting in the future.
