Demi Lovato & Nick Jonas Announce New Record Label (Find Out Whose Footsteps They’re Following)

Demi Lovato is taking the world by storm!

The 22-year-old singer is teaming up with her friend and the ever so charming Nick Jonas as well as manager Phil McIntyre to launch a artist-centric music label, which will be called Safehouse Records. The vocal powerhouse posted a picture on her Instagram of her signing the contract with the caption, “A Day I Will Never Forget…#Safehouse.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, the mission of Safehouse is to give future talent “participation in the success of the company as part owners” along with offering them the “best marketing and promotion available.” The issue of artists not having enough control over their work seems to be a trending issue within the music industry. The loss of control was one of the main driving forces of why Jay Z created TIDAL. Looks like Demi has the same vision and just really wants to put the “Art,” back into Artist.

Demi is beyond excited expressing how she has known Nick and Phil for years and how they share similar views in regards to making music. “It’s incredibly exciting to be part of this new company where I’m in control of all aspects of my career. I can’t wait to share what we’re working on!”

Demi is set to release her fifth album under Safehouse, but will share a partnership between Island Records and Hollywood Records (her current label). Nick is signed under Island Records so his transition to the label will be just as smooth as his lyrics.

We are uber excited Demi and Nick, but they’re not the only ones who decided to take the big leap and start their own record label. Check out these artist who you probably didn’t know had a record label.
