5 Questions We Ask Everyone: Shep Rose From Bravo’s ‘Southern Charm’

Bravo is my guilty pleasure, and Southern Charm is one show that I just can’t get enough of. It’s like Laguna Beach set in the South with less high school and bigger trust funds. Another reason you should be watching? William Shepard Rose III, better known as Shep, the single bachelor and businessman from South Carolina. After a long case not wanting to face the responsibilities of an adult, or “Peter Pan Syndrome” as the girls on the show call it, Shep has opened up a new restaurant and bar called the Palace Hotel in downtown Charleston, South Carolina.

Season two of the show just wrapped, but if you’re still craving more, our favorite Southern gentleman answered some questions exclusively for College Candy! See what Shep has to say about North versus South, what to do if you see him on the street, and the possibility of a third season of Southern Charm.

5 Questions We Ask Everyone

1. What’s your favorite college memory/the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?

I remember having a heaven/hell/purgatory party where you started in the basement (hell) and had to drink your way to heaven (the top floor) and heaven was all decorated in white with balloons up to your waist. Now that was a memorable party. (My date was super cute as well.) Also a handful of big football wins by the Dawgs stand out.

2. Name 5 things you can’t live without:

  • My phone
  • My car
  • My check card

That’s all I need.

3. What is your favorite song to belt out in the car/at the bar/for karaoke?

Solo? “You Can Leave Your Hat On” by Joe Cocker

Duet? “Islands in the Stream” by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers

4. What is your motto/the advice you live by?

Tomorrow is promised to no one.

5. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Charleston as a home base, traveling a bunch, and trying to keep a smile on my face as much as possible.

5 Questions Just for Shep

1. Season 2 of Southern Charm just finished up on Bravo. Is there going to be a third season? If so, are there going to be any changes in the cast?

I can’t answer that. No offers for season 3 yet. It’s complicated is what I’ll say.

2. How is the restaurant business treating you?

The show has brought some curious people to our door. It’s great. Making people happy with a beer and a hotdog is a good feeling.

3. What has been your craziest fan encounter?

Not many. Everyone is really cool. It’s funniest when you see someone recognize you but they’re internally debating whether to come say hi. Just come on over! I’m happy to say hello and take a picture.

4. In your experience, how are Northern boys different than Southern boys?

Ha! I haven’t spent much time in the North. We take our time in the south. A slower life, I guess. It’s preferable to me.

5. What about Northern girls versus Southern girls?

A few years back I would have said that Northern girls are more fun because they aren’t so caught up in reputation and being proper all the time, but I don’t think any girls care about that as much these days. So they’re all cool to me!

Southern Charm Season 2 reunion airs on Bravo this Monday, June 1st at 10 pm EST!
