When Prince William married commoner Kate Middleton, the 5-year-old wannabe princess inside all of us exploded in joy. It really can happen! A perfectly normal girl like you or me can actually become royalty! But then again, Kate has always been the picture-perfect royal wifey. Duchess Kate is beyond classy, super stylish yet conservative, and did her royal duty of having two gorgeous kiddies to someday inherit the throne. She was never really that daring of a choice – of course Queen Granny would approve.
This weekend Sofia Hellqvist married Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, making her Princess Sofia of Sweden, Duchess of Värmland…she’s pretty much the Swedish Kate. Except her past isn’t quite as squeaky-clean as Kate’s.
Before getting wifed up by Prince Carl Philip, pre-Princess Sofia was all like “IDGAF.” She was tattooed, photographed topless in men’s magazines, starred on reality TV shows, and even made out with porn star Jenna Jameson – not exactly the makings of royalty.
Things changed when Sofia met her now-husband at a nightclub in Stockholm while she was just a waitress. The Swedish royal family was unsurprisingly not a fan of the Prince Carl Philip’s pick, but he literally refused to come to royal events and public appearances if they didn’t let him date her.

My point? NOW we can really get our hopes up about becoming princesses IRL. While Kate is the girl we all aspire to be, Sofia is the girl we all are. Sofia waited tables, got a few tattoos, and made some life choices that her parents probably frowned upon – just like the rest of us.
In fact, Sofia might have made out better than Kate in a way…Prince Carol Philip is fine. So rip those shots and spend the night at the club – you just might find your prince.
