5 Random Celebrity Candidates Who Ran For Political Office

Donald Trump Makes Announcement At Trump Tower

When I first heard that Donald Trump was running for President of the United States, I immediately thought it was a joke. Sadly, it’s not. Here’s a list of other celebs that ran for a political position- some who failed miserably and others who actually won:

1. Stephen Colbert

The political satirist ran for President back in 2008 as a joke. Unfortunately for him, no one saw it that way.

2. Roseanne Barr

The actress ran in the 2012 Presidential election under the Peace and Freedom Party. Obviously she didn’t win. The ever-so truthful Wikipedia also tells us that the former sitcom star ran for Prime Minister of Israel. She has expressed support for the Occupy Wall Street Movement, and even supports beheadings for convicted Wall Street bankers who resist re-education programs. Wait what? Moving on. She’s officially terrifying.

3. Arnold Schwarzenegger

The Terminator was California’s Governor for seven years (2003-2010).

4. Clint Eastwood

The badass actor ran for office of his tiny hometown of Carmel, California in 1986 after the local planning board refused his attempts to remodel an office building next door to a restaurant he owned. Yet Eastwood’s celebrity was no match for his opponent, a retired librarian: he won the race 2,166 to 799 and immediately fired the planning board members.

5. Ronald Reagan

Believe it or not, Reagan was an actor and even president of the Screen Actor’s Guild before becoming President of the United States.
