Marie Claire’s July cover girl opens up about why she and Calvin Harris ended their relationship. The pair broke up last year, and she credits the song, “I Will Never Let You Down” as one of the major factors. He wouldn’t let her perform it at the Teen Choice Awards, and as a writer and producer of the song, Harris needed to give permission to let her perform it.
“I was at that point in my relationship where I felt he could do no wrong,” she says. “I thought he had my back and that he’d never steer me wrong. But then ‘I Will Never Let You Down’ came out, and everything started to go a bit weird. I don’t know if it was because business was mixed with personal or what.” She doesn’t get more specific than that, but says, “there was a reason why I split up with him.”
At the time, he tweeted that he had a “damn good reason” for withholding it. Okay, chill.
Harris has since moved on to another blonde pop star- Taylor Swift, and so far the two seem to be mixing business and pleasure quite well. I wonder if she and Taylor have ‘Bad Blood.’ Is that joke overdone? I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist.
