Both Caitlyn Jenner and Laverne Cox have become icons in the transgender community, so it only makes sense that they give each other a shoutout, right?
Jenner took to Twitter this week to thank the OITNB star for the work she’s done as well as the support she’s given Jenner since her beautiful debut on the cover of Vanity Fair.
Cox has been super supportive of Jenner’s transition since her interview with Diane Sawyer. “It feels like a new day, indeed, when a trans person can present her authentic self to the world for the first time and be celebrated for it so universally,” Cox wrote in a Tumblr essay.
She continued. “For years and years, I’ve always said that it’s not about positive or negative representations of trans people, it’s about diverse representations of trans people,” Cox told MTV News at the “Orange Is the New Black” OrangeCon event in New York City last week (June 11). “The more stories of us that can get out there in the media, the more the public can get an idea of the rich tapestry of who we are.”
I’m kind of obsessed with their budding friendship. Brunch sometime, ladies? No? Okay. It was worth a shot.
