The couple confirmed the end of their marriage with a statement on Tuesday, just a day after celebrating their 10th anniversary.
“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” they said in a joint statement. “We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding.”
The two have three children together: Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3. Affleck and Garner starting dating in 2004 after working together on two films, 2001’s “Pearl Harbor” and 2003’s “Daredevil.” They tied the knot in 2005.
It isn’t a total shocker that Ben and Jen weren’t a great fit. The couple has been the subject of much speculation in recent years. While accepting his best picture Oscar for Argo in 2013, Affleck alluded to tension, calling their marriage “work.”
The actor, however, slammed down rumors in an interview with Details last year, saying of reports, “See, that’s tabloid s–t. That’s all bulls–t.”
Well, let’s just say what we’re all thinking – we’re rooting for you, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon! We always thought you were a cuter couple anyway.
