A Teen Took Amazing Pics When She Visited The Real Life Litchfield From ‘Orange Is The New Black’

Litchfield in real life

While most people are trying to break out of prison, 19-year-old Samantha Gardella wanted to get in. The college student from New York found out it wasn’t hard – she was able to walk right onto the set of Orange Is the New Black. The fictional Litchfield Correctional Facility set uses the abandoned Rockland Children’s Psychiatric Center in upstate New York for shooting, and there wasn’t even a gate to keep people out.

Gardella, a videographer/photographer who is looking to earn a spot at Full Sail University’s Film Degree Program in Winter Park, Florida, did these pics as an experiment to add to her portfolio, found famous spots from the series and held photos of the show where they were filmed. The student lives around half an hour away from the facility, and says “As long as you can use Google Maps, pretty much anyone can get to it.” She tells us that there were other fans also exploring the abandoned facility, so if you are willing to take a risk, you too can visit – just don’t expect to see Piper and Alex walking around.

We’re not encouraging trespassing, but for photos this cool, it might be worth heading to real jail.

She also made a video of her tour of the set.
