With three million followers on Instagram and 881K on Twitter, the often outspoken model is bound to be on the receiving end of hateful comments. On any given day, if you go to Teigen’s social media pages, you’ll find yourself in a pool of envy: Her sexy half-naked photos, her lavish lifestyle, candid shots with hubby John Legend…what’s not to be jealous of?!
Unfortunately, Internet trolls take it too far by constantly leaving hurtful comments on the star’s social media pages, but according to the brunette beauty, none of it goes by unnoticed.
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, the avid tweeter tells the mag, “It’s almost like f—-king walking up to somebody, or going to somebody’s house, knocking on the door and being like, ‘You’re fat.’ I don’t know if they think they’re ballsy or what. But if you’re going to speak negatively about me, just do me a favor and don’t tag me in it.”
The 29-year-old is evidently confident in her own skin, but she questions if these commenters realize that on the other end of the screen, they’re ripping apart another human being:
“I would like to say I read everything because it’s pretty damn close. Probably 99.5 percent of things I really do read. And if I’m not reading it, it just means that I missed it. I mean, I think that people think that when they send you things, it goes off into space and you don’t care. The worst is when you respond and they’re like, ‘Oh, I didn’t think you would read that! I love you! Oh my god!’ Like, that’s the worst.”
Although Legend’s wife is always defending herself to online critics, that’s not a good enough reason for her to give up on socials altogether.
“Technology is a huge part of my life. I’m never not on my phone,” the new spokeswoman for Samsung’s the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy Note5 continued to tell Us. “[It’s my] little security blanket.”
