Back to college shopping can get expensive…quickly. Sure, your college probably provides you with a bed, dresser, and desk, and there’s not a lot of space to work with, but bedding, lighting, decor, and other necessities add up. Before you know it, you’ve spent all your textbook money for the semester and you still need to buy pillows.

Target challenged us to recreate our ideal dorm room with a $350 budget using only Target items. It sounds daunting, but with Target’s selection and prices, it can be done! Here’s how we spent our budget on dorm room essentials and decor.

FYI – Most dorm rooms will need Twin XL bedding, but I have a full size bed in my apartment, so I got those sizes.

Grand total: $259.10

Woo hoo! Way under budget, so I’ll be able to fill my room with other essentials as needed. However, I think I have everything I need to make my room look and feel like home. Check @CollegeCandy on Instagram to see how my room looks!
