It’s the first day back to school for many here in the “real” world, but there’s also a new first year at Hogwarts! The Hogwarts Express leaves King’s Cross Station at 11 am on September 1st, and this year Harry Potter’s eldest son James Sirius Potter would be on that train. J. K. Rowling took to Twitter to wish James luck.
I'm in Edinburgh, so could somebody at King's Cross wish James S Potter good luck for me? He's starting at Hogwarts today. #BackToHogwarts

In the process, Harry Potter fans got on their own train full of feels.

Today's the day James Sirius Potter would be starting at Hogwarts, excuse me while I curl into a ball and sob my way through the week.

Slightly confused? You’re probably thinking of the epilogue of the final HP movie, which showed Harry, Ginny, and the gang waving goodbye to their second son, Albus Severus. That was 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts. At that point, James S. Potter was already in school. Here is James in The Deathly Hallows: Part 2, as played by Alfie McIlwain.

So yeah, while you’re trying to navigate campus to find your new classrooms, James is experiencing Platform 9 3/4, getting his house through the Sorting Hat, and feasting in the Great Hall. Yes, we’re well aware it’s fictional, but that doesn’t make us any less jealous.
Update, 3:30 pm – James has been sorted into his house! Is he a Gryffindor like his parents?
