“If there is one message that echoes forth from this conference, let it be that human rights are women’s rights and women’s rights are human rights, once and for all.” – Hillary Clinton at the 1995 Beijing World Conference for Women.
20 years later, Clinton is broadcasting that same message even louder through her presidential campaign. It’s also no secret that women are still fighting for equal rights.
In an upcoming documentary by MAKERS, the group behind PBS’ female leadership documentary series, audiences will be taken back to the moment when Hillary Clinton and other world leaders came together to help turn women’s rights into a global issue at the Beijing World Conference for Women. The film, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Conference, is entitled Once and For All, and utilizes interviews and archival footage to chronicle the months leading up to the conference. In addition, it reflects upon the conference’s impact and takes into consideration on what work still remains to be done in order to achieve full gender equality around the world.
I got goose bumps while watching the trailer. You can watch it below via MAKERS’ Vimeo.
