After 21 months of marriage, Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting are ready to call it quits.
“Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting have mutually decided to end their marriage,” her rep said in a statement to Us. “They ask for privacy at this time. No further statement will be issued regarding this matter.”
The Big Bang Theory actress and professional tennis player married in a 2013 fire-and-ice themed wedding that took place on a ranch in Southern California.
It’s been rumored for months now that the former couple were on the brink of a breakup. Back in April, Cuoco wrote in an Instagram post: “I have never been more proud of anyone on this planet – this guy is fighting back from a whirlwind of injuries and not to mention constant ‘conversation’ regarding our marriage and basically any daily decision we decide to make. I’m so proud of his passion and his inner strength to fight back, but most of all I am proud to be his wife.”
“So all of you who take it upon yourselves to trash our marriage, daily workings of our relationship and everything in between, go ahead and keep doing it, cause it only makes us stronger — if you were smart, you would take a look at your own marriage, relationship, job etc, instead of focusing on someone else’s. You might be surprised at what you find. ‘You know my name, not my story,'” she continued in her rant.
This time, ahead of the news breaking, Cuoco cleared her social media pages of any photos containing her soon-to-be ex-hubby, while Sweeting took a slightly different approach — his Instagram account is cleared and his Facebook page is no longer existent.
But, one thing Sweeting won’t be able to get rid of with the click of a button? According to Entertainment Tonight, two weeks after getting hitched, the actor had “Kaley” and their wedding date tattooed on his arm.
Three days after the celeb-duo made their red carpet debut at the 2013 Emmys, Sweeting proposed to Cuoco, which was after a whirlwind three months of dating.
Before tying the knot, Cuoco was in a three-year relationship — from 2007 to 2010 — with her Big Bang Theory costar, Johnny Galecki and although the Burning Bodhi actress said in August children were coming “soon enough,” we can’t say we didn’t see this one coming.
