Indiana University ATO Fraternity Says The Subject Of Video Was NOT A Pledge

If you’ve been on the internet at all today, you’ve probably seen (or at least heard about) the leaked video of Indiana University’s Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. The video shows a guy wearing only boxers performing oral sex on a woman who is reported to be a stripper as other ATO brothers watch and cheer them on.

Immediately, the video was dubbed a hazing ritual, but now the fraternity has come out with a statement claiming the brother performing the sexual act was not a pledge, but a 21-year-old active member.
According to the letter, “The event was unauthorized involving about half of the chapter’s membership. The National Fraternity investigation revealed the 21 year old man in the video was an initiated member, not a pledge, and the two women in the video were exotic dancers hired by one of the members.”

Below is an official statement by Alpha Tau Omega.

The fraternity is still under investigation, but as the letter states, ATO’s charter has been revoked.
I just got off the phone with Kristen from ATO headquarters who didn’t tell me anything that wasn’t in the above statement. I was told someone involved in the investigation would get back to me with information – specifically on how they found out the subject of the leaked video wasn’t a pledge. Maybe I’ve been watching too many episodes of How To Get Away With Murder, but I don’t know if I’m buying that an active brother was the one going down on a stripper.
Do you think the frat is trying to cover up a terrible act of hazing by saying it was an active brother involved? Sound off in the comments.
