Delvin Tyrell Simmons, 20, was killed at Spartanburg Methodist College in South Carolina by a campus police officer. Spartanburg County deputies said two suspects ran from campus cops responding to a reported car break-in near Sparrow Residence Hall around 8:45 p.m. Monday night.

An officer pursued Simmons when he fled in a vehicle. The suspect did not listen to verbal commands made by the officer, then struck the officer with the car. The officer shot at the vehicle, killing Simmons.

The second suspect was arrested after he fled on foot. That suspect, identified as Oliver Chandler, 20, has been charged with petit larceny and carbreaking, according to jail records. Chandler attended Limestone College.
