Vincent “Don Vito” Margera, passed away today, November 15, at just 59-years-old. The reality TV star, best known for being the uncle of Jackass star, Bam Margera, went into a coma and was hospitalized in October.
After years of aggressive partying, Vincent had been diagnosed with kidney and liver failure. TMZ reported he died at the hospital this morning at 6:45 a.m.
Bam gave Vincet the nickname “Don Vito” after the character from The Godfather. Vincent often made appearances on Jackass, as well as Bam’s spin-off series, Viva La Bam.
However, his career quickly came to a halt after he was arrested in 2006, and found guilty on two counts of sexually assaulting a minor. The arrest (and 2007 conviction) came after he was accused of groping two underage girls at an autograph signing in Colorado.
In addition to being prohibited from acting as the “Don Vito” alter-ego in any way, for the past ten years he was on “serious probation” and had to register as a sex offender in both Colorado and his home state of Pennsylvania.
In 2011, Bam also lost his Jackass co-star, Ryan Dunn, to a fatal car accident.
