Rugrats was always a favorite show for me and my sister. We would sit down in front of Nickelodeon and watch Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Angelica, and the rest of the gang get into crazy adventures, giving my mom a break for half an hour. In fact, I remember seeing The Rugrats Movie in theaters and crying because Tommy was fighting with his baby brother…and so began my long history of crying at movies.
When my sister and I became preteens, so did the Rugrats with All Grown Up! It was kind of awesome that these cartoon characters were aging along with their audience.
Every other day now I see an engagement ring or baby announcement on Facebook, and although it still gives me the chills, it’s not weird. My friends are 25 years old and totally capable of being married or parents. I’m trying my best at adulting, and the Rugrats have once again aged with me, thanks to Buzzfeed.
Buzzfeed decided to imagine what the babies would look like with babies of their own, complete with backstories. Turns out, the Rugrats didn’t look far from their friend group to procreate.
