You probably follow a few bloggers on Instagram. Whether they’re fashionistas, DIY queens, or makeup mavens, their posts are a huge relief from the endless stream of selfies normally on your feed. However, when you find out how much these bloggers make for that one Instagram post, you might feel a new emotion when their name pops up as your scroll: insane jealousy.

According to WWD, a sponsored Instagram photo posted by a blogger with a strong social media following can cost a brand between $5,000 and $25,000. That’s nearly five times the going rates just a year and a half ago.

And the brands are happy to do it! They’re reaching millions who trust the blogger they follow (and it’s chump change compared to asking a celeb like Gigi Hadid or Kendall Jenner to back their product – see how much they charge per post here). If a blogger like Aimme Song who has 3.1 million Instagram followers endorses a clothing brand and links to their website, the brand sees an increase in both traffic and sales. Song will get commission on items she sells. Everybody wins.

WWD says top names in the blogging biz are making between $1 million and $3 million a year.
