Anne Hathaway Defends Jennifer Lawrence After The Reporter Incident

Jennifer Lawrence fell from the Internet’s good graces when footage of her being rude to a foreign reporter at the Golden Globes surfaced. To be fair, the reporter did reference the Oscars when they were at the Globes and J. Law was said to be joking.

Apparently we weren’t in on the joke.

Mic published its hot take, “We Have Reached Peak Jennifer Lawrence” where writer Kevin O’Keeffe said, “None of this is Lawrence’s fault. This is how Hollywood works. Actresses are hot one second and annoying the next. Anne Hathaway, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Winslet can empathize.”

Fellow Oscar winner Anne Hathaway certainly can.

Hathaway took to Facebook to add her two cents on the situation.

“Dear the Internet,

It’s become pretty clear that the Jennifer Lawrence “scolding” was taken out of context and that she was dryly joking with a journalist who was indeed using his phone to take photos of her.

Let’s not continue the sad but common practice of building people – especially women – up just to viciously tear them down when we perceive them to have misstepped. Jennifer is a beautiful, talented, wildly successful, popular, FOUR TIME OSCAR NOMINATED young woman. Please let us not punish her for these things.

We had already forgotten, but thanks, Anne!
