When I first discovered Sex and the City as reruns of the HBO hit aired literally every day on E!, I really wanted to like Carrie Bradshaw. She was a journalist living in New York City, just like I wanted to be doing in the very near future. (Spoiler alert: I did it.) So I tried – hard – to give her whiney ass the benefit of the doubt. However, after I realized no one can afford that kind of apartment in NYC without a job that required more than a column and she cheated on Aiden with Big, I turned my loyalty over to Samantha Jones for good.
Turns out, even Sarah Jessica Parker wasn’t a fan of Miss Bradshaw.
“People probably don’t realize that Carrie Bradshaw was radically different from who I was, who I continue to be,” Parker recently told the Wall Street Journal.
In fact, Carrie and SJP have little more in common than a good taste in shoes.
She said, “I think that sometimes because we look alike and live in the same city and haunt the same neighborhoods, that it was sort of like I was playing in the sandbox, when in truth it took real work every day to be her, to understand her, to not judge her.”
I think we all did enough judging for everyone, SJP.
