If You Have One Of These Popular Passwords, You’re Practically Asking To Get Hacked

We all had that friend with the “password” or “123456” password in middle school. They’d get all upset because you were able to log onto their computer, but hey, it wasn’t your fault that they choose such an easy password. They were practically asking for you to look through their embarrassing iTunes selections.

I thought everyone learned after those days, but apparently there are still idiots who think online security isn’t a problem…aka they choose a ridiculously obviously password for everything from Facebook to their bank account. Even the Ashley Madison hack victims used the “welcome” or “qwerty” password like they were invisible or something – seriously.

Splash Data has just released the most common, and therefore worst, passwords a person can possibly have (unless they want to get hacked, of course).

1. 123456
2. password
3. 12345678
4. qwerty
5. 12345
6. 123456789
7. football
8. 1234
9. 1234567
10. baseball
11. welcome
12. 1234567890
13. abc123
14. 111111
15. 1qaz2wsx
16. dragon
17. master
18. monkey
19. letmein
20. login
21. princess
22. qwertyuiop
23. solo
24. passw0rd
25. starwars

So if your password contains a very obvious sequence of letters, your favorite Star Wars reference, or your high school sport, change it. And maybe get a little more creative than your pet’s name or birthday…for your own good.
