Taylor Swift and Kanye West have quite a long history, starting back at the 2009 VMAs when Kanye infamously jacked the mic from Tay to proclaim Beyonce had one of the best video of all time (and like, he wasn’t wrong). Obviously, there was a little animosity between them.
They acted like they buried the hatchet, T. Swift even introducing Kanye at the 2015 VMAs, but we knew they still had some lingering feels.
As you probably know, Kanye West’s new album is due to drop today. He previewed The Life of Pablo in a launch party at Madison Square Garden in New York City last night, and in the song “Famous,” the outspoken musician mused, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous.”
Rumors flew that Kanye called Taylor recently and let her know about the name drop, but singer’s team issued a statement overnight. “Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single ‘Famous’ on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message,” her rep told E! News, adding, “Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, ‘I made that bitch famous.'”
Kanye West took to Twitter Friday morning in a rant about the T. Swift situation.

So according to Kanye, bitch isn’t an insult (I can get behind that) and Taylor Swift actually came up with the lyric herself.
Stay tuned, kids…
