We’re all in this together?
Disney Channel has announced a nationwide casting search for High School Musical 4, the sequel to the eternally-popular High School Musical franchise (which just celebrated its 10 year anniversary with a long overdue cast reunion).
The franchise concluded in 2008 with the release of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, which said farewell to beloved stars, Zac Eron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and more.
High School Musical 4 will be directed and choreographed by Jeffrey Hornaday who worked on Disney’s Teen Beach Movie franchise. The screenplay will be written by Dan Berendsen alongside Peter Barsocchini who wrote all three High School Musical movies.
Despite the change in cast, High School Musical 4 will take place once again at East High and follow the schools’ famous Wildcat team.
Gary Marsh, the president of Disney Channels Worldwide, teased the return on the beloved movie franchise. He said:
“High School Musical is part of Disney Channel’s DNA. It embodies all that we stand for. As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we’re excited to announce ‘the start of something new’ – as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the High School Musical franchise.”
If you think you have what it takes to be the next Zac Efron or next Vanessa Hudgens, you should consider attending Disney’s open casting call this spring. Who knows? It could be the “start of something new!”
