Zayn Malik dropped the third track from his upcoming solo album Mind of Mine. “Like I Would” follows the oh-so-sexy “Pillowtalk” and “iT’s YoU,” and he seems to be proving to the world that he can be successful without his former bandmates.
One Direction who?
Zayn’s latest single starts out, “Hey what’s up, it’s been a while,” which vaguely reminds me of Adele’s massive hit, “Hello.” The British pop, EDM-esque, R&B tune could seemingly be about a once special someone with lyrics like, “He won’t touch you like I do” and “He won’t love you like I would.” He also repeatedly says his ex is “cold-hearted,” so you know people are going to lose their sh*t thinking it’s about his former flame, Perrie Edwards. Although tbh, it very well could be.
Then again, Hollywood Life points out that “Pillowtalk” is actually about Edwards and not his current girlfriend Gigi Hadid- who he’s kissing in the music video. Regardless, it’s a catchy tune, so who cares who it’s about, right?
