Kesha’s Case Against Sony Was Thrown Out By New York Judge

It was reported today by TMZ that Kesha has definitively lost her case against Sony and Dr. Luke due to a New York judge tossing the entire case out. Kesha appealed the February court decision that kept her locked in her contract to the New York Supreme Court in March.

The judge rejected Kesha’s claim that she was a “slave” to Sony with Dr. Luke as “her master” because the company made other producers available for her to work with. According to the judge, Kesha was being unreasonable by rejecting that option.

The judge additionally did not believe that Dr. Luke committed a hate crime, as Kesha accused him. The judge said:

“Although [Dr. Luke’s] alleged actions were directed to Kesha, who is female [her claims] do not allege that [Luke] harbored animus towards women or was motivated by gender animus when he allegedly behaved violently towards Kesha. Every rape is not a gender-motivated hate crime.”

Kesha currently has a similar lawsuit filed in Los Angeles, according to TMZ. That lawsuit has been put on hold.

This New York decision comes two days after Kesha revealed on her Instagram account that Sony allegedly stated that they would release her from her contract if she publicly apologized and retracted claims that Dr. Luke raped her.
