Tinder’s New Social Feature Has Some Users Upset

Tinder has just announced their new product, Tinder Social, which allows for friend groups to match with other friend groups for social get-togethers. The product, which is currently being tested in Australia, had only one problem: it automatically activated the feature for all Tinder users.

In other words, the feature inadvertently exposed all of your Facebook friends who use Tinder – and this isn’t information that everyone wants to be revealed.

For Australians who were using the app to cheat on their significant other, it was a really bad day. For everyone else? Well, you’re safe – for now.

Following some user concern, Tinder quickly fixed the issue and addressed it on their blog in quite a sassy manner. It read:

“Any user who would prefer not to be added to groups can opt out of Tinder Social through his/her settings to no longer appear on their friends’ lists. We are only testing it at this point, but it’s important to note Tinder’s not a secret considering 70% of users download Tinder because their friends recommend it.”

According to TechCrunch, some users believe that the new “group” option on Tinder means that the app now wants to help you find group sex. It’s not a totally huge leap, either. There’s already an app like Tinder to find threesomes called 3nder out there.

The company has not announced officially when it plans to bring Tinder Social to other markets. For now, the company states that Tinder Social will launch globally “soon,” hopefully with all of its privacy problems worked out.
