Last year, just when we had all started to move on with our lives, JK Rowling reminded us all of the tragedy that was Fred Weasley’s death in the Harry Potter series.
Today I would just like to say: I'm really sorry about Fred. *Bows head in acceptance of your reasonable ire*

The author promised that each year on May 2, the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, she would talk about the death of our favorite characters and say her sorry. “I thought I might [apologize] for one death per anniversary,” she wrote. “Fred was the worst for me, so I started with him.”
And look at that – it’s May 2 again and time to remember another one of the fallen. Grab the tissues as we remember Remus Lupin.
Once again, it's the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts so, as promised, I shall apologise for a death. This year: Remus Lupin.

In the interests of total honesty I'd also like to confess that I didn't decide to kill Lupin until I wrote Order if the Phoenix.

Arthur lived, so Lupin had to die. I'm sorry. I didn't enjoy doing it. The only time my editor ever saw me cry was over the fate of Teddy. 😢

Apparently no family in the Harry Potter universe can be happy. JK Rowling, you are a monster! (Just kidding, I’m sorry, love you.)
At least we can take some solace in knowing that JK is just as upset as the rest of us.
RIP Remus.
