Ruby Rose is a total badass boss lady. Not only is she the most beautiful person in the history of like ever, she also takes no sh*t from anyone, which I admire.
The 30-year-old Orange is the New Black actress hit the streets of NOLA for a nice evening out, only it didn’t quite end that way.
Rose went to Rebellion Bar and Urban Kitchen for some late-night grub, but instead allegedly got ridiculed for her sobriety. She’s been extremely open about her alcohol issues in the past, even admitting that she threw up on Katy Perry and it was a wake up call to get her act together. (“I’m wide awake!” Sorry, I couldn’t help myself).
Here’s what went down, from her perspective:
“Fry-day the 13th,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “My assistant, tour manager and myself arrived at an establishment last night for dinner before my show in New Orleans. We waited 60 minutes for fries and over 90 minutes for food that never actually arrived. When I asked about it, the bartender offered us drinks. I explained I’m sober, but thank you.”
“He then made some really rude and vulgar comments to the table,” she wrote. “When someone makes repeated derogatory jokes about the sobriety I worked so hard to achieve, it’s hard not to react emotionally. So I threw a singular fry at him. Then he came back as we were getting ready to leave and continued making awful comments, so I continued with the fries.”
RIP to all those uneaten fries. She continued:
“Every day I learn new lessons about handling cultural and social ignorance,” the actress wrote on Facebook. “I am deeply regretful to the French fry and I am regretful that I reacted at all. Maybe next time I won’t throw fries, then again, maybe next time that bartender won’t tell someone who is sober to ‘Go call your f–king sponsor!'”
“I worked in hospitality for five years and I have huge love, respect and admiration for servers around the world and how hard they work,” she added. “I also have mad love for New Orleans and I want to come back 100 times if you will have me. Next time, dinner at my place.”
TBH, this is kind’ve hilarious. “I am deeply regretful to the French fry.” 😂 I wonder how long it took her PR team to come up with that.
Ironically, she tweeted about how much she loved New Orleans.
Rebellion Bar and Urban Kitchen owner Seung Hong had a bit of a different perspective on the whole situation, though. She said, “She was having like a tantrum. She was awful,” noting that Rose “cursed out” the bartender at whom food was thrown. “She was a horrible person.”
She was probably just hangry. It happens to the best of us.
