People Are Freaking Out Over Blake Lively’s Instagram Post & Most Are Deeming It Racist

Blake Lively may have slayed in the fashion department during the Cannes Film Festival, but her latest Instagram post is getting some attention — and not in a good way.

The 28-year-old pregnant mom awed viewers in chic maternity dresses that made her look even more stunning than usual. But her latest getup — a gorgeous gold gown by Atelier Versace — is getting trashed after she posted the following photo to Instagram:

The caption “L.A. face with an Oakland booty” has fans calling her racist, despite the fact that she’s quoting a lyric from Si Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back.” Regardless, viewers expressed their disapproval in an endlessly long comments section.

“Unbelievably problematic,” one poster wrote, “using women of color’s bodies as a joke. I guess you just want people to know you’re racist and you don’t give a s–t.”

Another wrote, “No ma’am! Take the booty pads off. Look white gurls you already the standard of beauty let us black chicks have something.”

And then there was this: “As if getting married on a slave plantation wasn’t reason enough to hate her.”

So that got out of hand pretty quickly. While Lively has yet to comment, I’m sure she’ll come out with a follow-up Instagram post apologizing for her ignorance. Personally, I think everyone needs to chill out. It’s a song lyric! Save the hatred for someone who deserves it, like Donald Trump.

Am I wrong? Yell at me in the comments below. I know you probably want to.

Since this asinine controversy started earlier this week, Sir Mix-A-Lot finally spoke out and actually sided with Blake Lively.

In an interview with Pret-a-Reporter, Sir Mix-A-Lot explained how he was a “little surprised at the criticism.”

“That song was written with African-American women in mind, but trust me, there are white women with those curves everywhere, and they were once considered fat,” he said. “And that’s what the song was about. It wasn’t about some race battle.”

FINALLY! Someone is calling out how ridiculous this whole thing is besides me. It’s a song, people! There are real race issues in this country, let’s not overshadow them by freaking out over a white girl posting a song lyric to her Instagram photo!
