It was a great year for music, movies and fashion. From the Grammys to the Met Gala and everything in between, there are numerous designer looks that make the red carpet look a little less like an award show and a little more like a runway. However some looks in 2016 fell flat while other’s will be remembered long past the end of this year. Here are five of the best red carpet looks from 2016.
Taylor Swift – The Grammys
2016 has been a huge year for Taylor Swift and her evolving image. This vibrant two-piece with a thigh-high slit by Atelier Versace paired perfectly with Swifts new bob. It was a bold statement that displayed how Swift’s image was changing alongside her music. The multiple Grammys she won later that evening only verified the success of this transition.
Brie Larson – The Oscars
All eyes were on Brie Larson after her performance in the film Room. All eyes were especially on her when she appeared at the Academy Awards in this royal blue Gucci dress. The dress was simple yet the few embellishments on the gown were stunning.
Lady Gaga – The Golden Globes
Lady Gaga’s look on the Golden Globes red carpet was shocking for different reasons than her usual attire. It was almost more surprising to see Gaga in a floor-length velvet dress looking like a Hollywood glamour from the 20s’ than in a dress made out of raw meat. She looked like a movie star, which was fitting as she won an award later that evening for her acting performance in American Horror Story.
Emma Watson – The Met Gala
The theme at the Met Gala was futuristic, yet Emma Watson went beyond looking futuristic and showed up in a piece that would be stunning in the past, present or future. It was a daring choice, a two-piece with pants and a long train. However, Watson came out on top in this look by the Calvin Klein Collection.
Blake Lively – Cannes Film Festival
Night after night at the Cannes Film Festival, Blake Lively stole the red carpet with her selection of gowns for each premiere. This dress by Atelier Versace had the same effect. This look had Twitter exploding with people tweeting about Lively and how similarly she looked to the Disney princess Elsa from Frozen.
