These NYC Date Ideas Will Make For an Epic Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend is just another reason to celebrate good ol’ Merica! Memorial Day is on the last Monday of every May, making it May 30th this year. It’s also a beautiful reminder that our days will be longer, music will be louder, and there will be plenty of bathing in the sun. No plans?! We’ve got the five best date ideas in NYC. There’s something for everyone!

1. Movie Night @ the Intrepid

Memorial Day Intrepid Movie Night

Start your weekend off with a romantic movie on the flight deck at the Intrepid. The museum is hosting their free 8th annual movie night on May 27, 2016. This year they’ll be showing Top Gun at 6:30pm. You’re invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and friends. Seating will be on a first come, first serve basis.

2. Governors Island: Celebrate Season’s Reopening

Governors Island Memorial Day

Our favorite island is opening for the season! Visit Governor’s Island on May 28, 2016, with your date for the day. Enjoy the sun and byob! Bring your our beverages, (alcoholic/non-alcoholic permitted) food, and fun! Keep in mind, there are plenty of delicious food trucks serving from 10am-7pm.

3. Visit Randall’s Island

Randalls Island on Memorial Day

Randall’s Island is open all summer long! Another one of NYC’s favorite places that make you love the outdoors. With picnic tables in select areas of the park, it’s a great place to barbecue.

4. Smorgasburg

Memorial Day Idea Smorgasburg

This one is for the food lovers! If your date likes to eat, visit any of the Smorgasburg locations all around the NYC. Brooklyn, Seaport, and Central Park are the homes for the many food vendors for this flea market. Start your date with the best Home Frite’s and build your appetite for Brooklyn’s own MofonGO. The options are endless and what’s better than a partner who can eat?

5. The Lower East Side Festival of the Arts

NYC Memorial Day Lower East Side

Take your date on an artsy adventure weekend filled with music, dance, and theatre from L.E.S. This year will be the birth of the 21st birthday so to properly celebrate there will be wonderful performances, free food, and hand-crafted items for purchase. The event lasts all weekend from noon to midnight!
