This Girl Was Told She Had 15 Years Left to Live if She Didn’t Make a Lifestyle Change, So She Lost 159 Lbs

Aubrey Johansen was told she had only 15 years left to live if she didn’t make a lifestyle change. At her heaviest, she weighed 350 lbs. and was told by four separate music schools that she would have to lose at least 200 lbs. if she ever wanted to be considered for one of their productions. That was a few years ago. Now at 25, Aubrey is a whole new person.

After undergoing gastric bypass surgery, Aubrey lost 159 lbs. in one year. Her body has transformed immensely, but not without consequences. Due to how heavy Aubrey was and how fast she lost weight, she has a lot of excess skin. And she’s displaying the truth on Instagram.

“You have the vision in your mind of how you will look,” she explained to The Daily Mail. “You think you’re going to be fit and gorgeous, not like a melted stick of butter. It’s terrible because you don’t feel attractive. Some days I feel I was more beautiful before, so it’s a real mental battle. It affects going to the beach in a bikini, even taking my clothes off in front of my girlfriend. I just don’t feel proud.”

Despite her hardships, Aubrey admits “I feel like a completely different person to who I was before” and has had a confidence boost overall. While she hopes to get the excess skin in the future, Aubrey is inspiring those looking to change their life in the meantime. Her Instagram has amassed over 40,000 followers and is an honest portrayal of dramatic weight loss.

We’re cheering for you Aubrey. Check out her before and after photos below.
