Ex-Husband Of The Year Pays His Wife’s Alimony In Pizza

Alimony payments in Italy can be extremely high, and pizzamaker Nicola Toso knew that paying his ex-wife, Nicoletta Zuin, might actually bankrupt him. So he did the next best thing- pay her in pizza slices.

Unsurprisingly, Nicoletta originally refused – last time I checked sausage wasn’t a form of payment – but judge Chiara Bitozzi ruled in favor of the (literally) poor guy. Since he wasn’t making enough money from his business, Chiara determined that he couldn’t have paid any other way. I mean hey, that’s better than nothing – and arguably better than money – amirite? 🍕🍕🍕

The case was settled in 2011—but only reported on May 27, when journalist Lino Lava stumbled upon court files. No word on how long the man continued to pay Nicola in pizza. Unfortunately, his restaurant has since shut down, but hopefully the guy’s doing okay. He sounds like a sad, sad man.

In other news, it’s too bad they didn’t stay together. How awesome are their names together?! Nicola and Nicoletta. Sigh, so sweet.
