A while ago, our Facebook feeds were flooded with Bitmojis — personalized avatar emojis that anyone could create and put into various scenarios. Everyone and their mother had a cartoon version of themselves on Facebook. Literally. Even the older generations, of parents and beyond, who tend to be technologically challenged, loved Bitmojis.
Well, with Snapchat‘s recent announcement that Bitmoji will be available through the app, your parents might just make their own account and send you a few snaps!
Although the Bitmoji trend subsided on Facebook, Snapchat saw the opportunity to make an investment. According to Mashable, Snapchat bought Bitstrips, the company behind Bitmojis, for about $100 million in March. Now, Snapchat has merged the two apps together.
When parents find out about this, be prepared to have their stories pop up among your friends’ wild snaps. Then again, this might not happen if your parents aren’t in the know about the latest in technology. Mine gave up “figuring out” technology years ago. There are only a few, simple steps to use Bitmoji on Snapchat.
Make sure to download the latest version of Snapchat and of course, download Bitmoji. If you don’t already have a Bitmoji account, make one and if you do, just link your account to Snapchat in settings. Ta-da! You’re all set. Bitmojis can be sent in chat or stick them on snaps. You can even send friendmojis if your friend also has one.
This could be the beginning of more entertaining or weirder snaps. Let’s see if parents catch on.
