Millennials Are Having Less Sex Because They’re Too Busy Looking At Their Phones

No, it’s not just you. Millennials everywhere are having less sex than ever before – and technology is to blame.

A study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior states that over double the number of Millennials born in the 1990s had no sexual partners since age 18 compared to GenX’ers who were born in the 1960s.

“The nature of communication now is anti-sexual,” said associate clinical professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, Norman Spack. “People are not spending enough time alone just together. There’s another gorilla in the room: It’s whatever is turned on electronically.”

In other words, before Instagram and Pokemon Go, people were actually interested in getting to know each other. Now that’s gone to sh*t. Way to go, kids.

According to Cosmopolitan, the CDC released numbers a couple months ago “showing that sex among high school-aged teens had declined over the past decade…Some believe this is because a lot of the taboo around sex has been broken down, but professionals also blame this change in hookup culture on the advance of technology. After all, it’s probably no coincidence that the number of sexual partners fell for the generation who grew up with smartphones.”

Others, however, are just more focused on school or work rather than dating. Whatever the reason, at least you can feel better knowing you’re not the only one going through a dry spell.
