After posting an offensive tangent about rape online, Kurt Metzger, one of the writers for Inside Amy Schumer, was fired by the popular comedienne. Metzger, 39, posted a lengthy rant about sexual assault after news spread that another comedian was permanently banned from Upright Citizens Brigade theaters and improv training centers after he was accused of rape by several other female comedians.
“Guys, I have just heard some disturbing news, this guy Jiff Dilfyberg is a rapist!” the post read. “I know because women said it, and that’s all I need! Never you mind who they are. They are women!”

He continued to post on both Facebook and Twitter on Monday and Tuesday, questioning why each victim didn’t take their claims to the police. “Don’t f*cking complain about the police not helping if you didn’t bother going to the police at all,” he wrote. “‘Why aren’t the rape kits being tested??’ Because instead of actually educating women with useful information on what to do if they are victimized, you blather nonsense about ‘culture,’ and then tell them being weak is being strong.”

After the internet was bombarded by Metzger’s opinion on the matter, Schumer started to receive comments from fans questioning why she hired someone who is “anti-woman” and “anti-feminist.”

In response, Schumer took to Twitter to announce that she does not agree with Metzger’s words and that he no longer works for her. “I am so saddened and disappointed in Kurt Metzger. He is my friend and a great writer, and I couldn’t be more against his recent actions.”

Metzger has since released a statement on Facebook apologizing for “the tone” of his initial post.
“It was never my intent to antagonize victims or their supporters,” he wrote. “My defensiveness came from feeling deliberately misunderstood. I am not a ‘rape apologist.’ My position has always been in defense of the victims of assault. I realize that when emotions are running high, it might not be the time to aggressively philosophize on a sensitive topic. I stand by the points I made, but I sincerely apologize for using inflammatory language to make them.”
As for his job at Inside Amy Schumer, Metzger stated “There is no job … They want me fired from a job that doesn’t exist.”

Despite what it looks like — that Metzger was fired from Inside Amy Schumer — Schumer tweeted late last night to clarify. “I didn’t fire Kurt,” she wrote. “He isn’t a writer for my show because we aren’t making the show anymore. There are no writers for it.”

Comedy Central has yet to comment.
