Amber Heard’s Divorce Settlement is All Going to Charity

After finally closing in on a divorce settlement with Johnny Depp, Amber Heard announced that her $7 million will all be donated to two different charities, one of which focuses on domestic abuse survivors, according to TMZ.

“The donation will be divided equally between the ACLU, with a particular focus to stop violence against women, and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, where I have worked as a volunteer for the past 10 years,” she told the news organization.

She continued, “Money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves.”

Heard also said that she forfeited all residuals Depp earned from movie deals he made during their short-lived marriage despite being entitled to them, since the couple did not have a prenup.

“Hopefully this experience results in a positive change in the lives of people who need it the most,” Heard said.

The couple settled earlier this week after a tumultuous couple of months and released a bizarre joint statement that same day. “Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity.”

The announcement came weeks after Heard accused Depp of physically and emotionally abusing her throughout their 15-month marriage.
